1. Who wears toe rings and ankle bracelets?
People of all ages wear toe rings and ankle bracelets. Jewelry from Barefoot Toes adds another dimension to adornment. The rings are worn on fingers and toes. Anklets are often stacked with a variety of styles.
2. How do I know what size ring to order?
The ideal way for a good fit is to come to an event and get fitted by a BT staff member. You will receive a business card with the styles and sizes you purchased. That is helpful for future orders. Another option is to order a ring sizer with instructions from Barefoot Toes.
3. How do I know what size ankle bracelet to order?
To measure for an ankle bracelet size, use a chain type necklace and wrap it gently around the ankle above the bone. Measure that length on a ruler or tape measure. Adults typically will be 9-11 inches. That size will be a good fit above the bone. Do the same for below the bone. Where to wear the anklet is personal choice.
4. What is the difference between adjustable and fitted toe rings?
Fitted rings go all the way around and fit like a ring on your finger. Adjustable rings usually open in the back and often pinch. Most people prefer fitted toe rings.
5. How do I know my toe ring size?
Rings from Barefoot Toes are available in whole and half sizes (1.5-6). Just as rings for your fingers may be a different size on each hand, your toes may be different on each foot. For a good fit, it is helpful to be measured. Come to an event for a personal fit or order a ring sizer.
6. What is a stack of rings?
Barefoot Toes stacks rings for style and comfort. A stack of three rings looks like a single ring and is priced as a single ring. You are actually getting 3 separate rings. Because the rings are not connected, there is more flexibility as you move—allowing for more comfort.
7. Do children ever wear these rings?
Because the rings are a small size, children find them desirable to wear on their fingers as well as their toes.
8. Do adults ever wear these rings on their fingers?
Yes, the rings are worn on fingers as well as toes.
9. What is the difference between 14K Gold and Gold Fill?
14K Gold is the most popular precious metal alloy sold in the U.S. With occasional polishing, the luster lasts indefinitely. Barefoot Toes has 14K rings in yellow gold; a few white gold rings are available by custom order. Gold Fill is made with less gold than 14K and costs less. It is durable and can be worn by most people without reactions or difficulties. Gold Fill may need more care to maintain the luster. With continual wear and consideration of body chemistry & lifestyle, the luster may last 1-5 years.
10. Which toe should be used for my first toe ring?
There are no rules regarding toes or toe rings. A suggested guideline is to start with the 2nd or 3rd toe on the less dominate foot (left foot if you are right handed). This often seems an easier adjustment for the first toe ring. Awareness may be noticed at first and usually is gone in 1-5 days.
11. Is any special meaning associated with wearing a ring on a specific toe?
As far as Barefoot Toes knows, no special meaning is associated with wearing rings on any toe. It is a personal preference. Sometimes friends and family purchase toe rings together for a special bonding experience.
12. Will my rings tarnish?
Body Chemistry often determines the luster of the metals. Chemicals in commercial hot tubs, pools with high chlorine, salt water, or well water may tarnish sterling silver and/or dull gold. If this happens, remove the rings and polish with a treated jewelry cloth; the original luster should return.
13. How do I get my toe rings on or off?
Using glass cleaner (BT prefers Windex), lubricate your toe and toe rings. To put them on, scoot one ring on at a time from underneath over the toe pad. Apply additional lubricant as you add other rings. To remove rings, lubricate both the toe and ring(s) and scoot off, one ring at a time. Removing rings is usually easier than putting them on.
14. When should I remove my toe rings?
- Some people wear their toe rings all the time. Fitted toe rings are so comfortable folks forget they have them on.
- For a medical situation, it may be important to remove your toe rings. This may include pregnancy, medications that may cause swelling, or undergoing a medical procedure. If you stump your toe or drop something on it, remove rings ASAP before swelling occurs.
- Cleaning the rings periodically will maintain their beauty. Some folks prefer to remove rings before cleaning—others clean on the toe.
- A hot tub may have chemicals that tarnish silver and/or dull gold. Barefoot Toes suggests removing rings before getting into a commercial hot tub.
- For ease in removing rings, use glass cleaner such as Windex and lubricate both your toe and rings.
15. How do I clean my rings?
To maintain the luster of your jewelry it is important to use specific jewelry cleaning products. Some products are safe only for silver jewelry; others are safe for silver, gold, and platinum. Lubricate your toe and toe rings to remove them. Then follow the directions of the jewelry cleaning product.16. Where on the ankle should an ankle bracelet be worn?
Comfort, personal preference and style of the ankle bracelet determine where you choose to wear it. Barefoot Toes suggests above or below the bone, or stacked—wearing more than one ankle bracelet on the same ankle. When the anklet rests on the bone, the movement of the ankle puts strain on the jewelry and may cause it to break.
17. How do I know what size ankle bracelet I wear?
Typically the ankle size is one inch smaller above the bone than below the bone. A thicker style may need to be a little larger than a thin, delicate style.
